Openboats
Cruising the Whitsunday Islands in an Openboat, what could be better?
At
the helm of my John Welsford designed navigator, boat filled with more gear
than I care to carry up the beach on a hot day and a tackle box
brimming with lures.... Woooh. No matter what the weather it's sure to be 'all
good', and thus far it always has. After two years of cruising in my
Navigator I find that g-mail has web space, so I've decided to
make use of it and share my Openboat adventures with all who care to read.
My Boat
Just
landing a Spanish Mackral off the starboard side of my Navigator. The tight
sheeted missen makes landing fish one up a breeze. I started out with
the sloop rig for simplicity's sake, but ended up changing to the Yawl
rig. The Yawl carries more sails, hence there are more lines to manage,
but if you're sailing one up the Yawl is easier handled, especially
when pressed in difficult conditions or landing fish.
